People are the strangest creatures and you often find them doing the most outlandish things. In fact, the only general rule about us is that we are all a big conundrum, a puzzle no one can fully piece together. We find so much complexity and so much simplicity coexisting in all of us and as each finger print is unique from the rest, so are all of us different from each other. Not one is the same as another. Each one a separate part of the whole but all of us contributing to this crazy thing we call life.
With this diversity of people around us, each with a different agenda, outlook and experience, how do we celebrate each one? How do we see the method in the madness or the inspired despite of the insanity? How are we able to appreciate the true beauty of the people around us and of cultures and nationalities different from ours?
Here's a list of some historical and practical examples and reasons why we should expect nothing except the most special behavior from each person. How each one, although outwardly unconventional, is a wonder to humanity, how we are, from the dunce to the dork, the nerdy to the porky, the nutty to the pansy, all so beautiful to me.
Size is relative from the overweight to the pint sized.
Babe Ruth weighed around 200 lbs at the peak of his career and at that weight you can't expect anyone to run around stealing bases and all that quick and athletic stuff. Some say that why he had to hit all those home runs in the first place; it was so he could mosey along from plate to plate and not have to run.
We don't know how small David was (yes, the one from the Bible. The one and the same mentioned in the book of First Kings) but guess how tall Goliath was; a staggering 10 feet. Just use those odds out on a fight today and you'd get Shaquille O'Neal versus anyone else. Not very favorable odds for anyone, except Shaquille I guess but you know what they say: The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
We're just like beans. The more kinds you have in your soup, the better it tastes.
We all make up this big melting pot of different nationalities and success or failure of an endeavor isn't dependent on this mix of different people and cultures. What's important is the dedication and the value each one attaches to the work each one has to do. Just look at some of the most successful countries like The United States or England. Their work forces are now mostly made up of, well, everyone from mostly everywhere. You get the Indians, Asians, people of color and Caucasians making up this work force and it hasn't hurt it one bit. In fact, some would say they enjoy this process of mixing since getting to know the different cultures, languages and practices of others is an exciting thing in itself and it widens each ones perspective of the world, possibly influencing ones view for the better.
Weird could mean wonderful. Unconventional and a solution oriented way of thinking might mean NOT following the norm.
No one ever thought of using "light bulbs" instead of candles, except that one person did. No one ever thought humans would be able to fly faster than the speed of sound except one person did. No one ever thought people would want to ride on things called "cars" and make travelling a lot easier except one person did. Unconventional thinking could be pretty much unmapped but it doesn't mean it's a dead end or that it won't help solve a predicament. Humans have a natural although negative reaction to things that are not known but if we keep an open mind for creative thinking and keep an eye out for the unexpected, we are sure to find something special in everyone. Be ready for surprises and expect anything to everything.
Keep your focus on the inside because the outside doesn't show you everything that counts.
It's definitely hard to try to see something that's invisible or something that's hidden, but usually that is where the true qualities, strengths and weaknesses of a person lie. Being able to do this is a gift in itself but with practice and patience, we'll be able to recognize the language of action. Most everyone can say "blah blah" this or "blah blah" that, but it's the person who usually doesn't say anything much but automatically goes into action is the one who really knows what's happening and his actions will address the situation appropriately and with care. Individuals of this manner are few and far in between and meeting one is a great privilege indeed. It's like the saying goes: There are those who make things happen, and those who wonder "what the heck just happened."
Never put a person in a box. Any box would be too small.
Generalization of a person into a nationality or into a culture will never be efficient since a person is made up of more than his nationality or his culture. It is insulting to prejudge the character of a son because of his father or of a father because of his daughter. Don't fall into this trap and treat each one as an individual of special attributes. You'll find that they'll return the favor.
Each person is beautiful, the challenge is seeing that beauty but just because you can't see it doesn't mean that it is not there. Respect and acceptance is a trait you will surely find in those that behold the beauty of everyone around them.
Basically, what I'm trying to say here is, this site should absolutely be taken with a grain of salt. The point is not at all to ridicule, but to entertain. The site aims to point out the fun in life and not to poke fun of people. So please don't email and yell at me for being cruel, because that's not what the site is about and it's certainly not what I am. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, for sure!
